The government has abandoned its populist plan to extend job quotas to the private sector, giving up a scheme which had alarmed the industry, for a more pragmatic approach marked by a renewed push to locate job-intensive units in backward regions...

Who are the Upper Castes/ Forward Castes?
Over the past several decades, a number of terms and expressions have been invented (with utterly mischievous and diabolical intentions) and thrown into the public arena. If one were to examine (i.e honestly) the available data and scrutinize the appropriateness of the expression/nomenclatures, one is likely to be presented with the astounding evidence that Indian politicians, the media and assorted extremist elements have lent whole new meanings to the expressions, which are exactly the opposite of their regular dictionary meanings...

Involvement of Various Caste People in Anti-SC Crimes in Tamil Nadu
For over a century now, Tamil Nadu Brahmins (from newly born babies to people on their death beds) have been portrayed as vile, cunning and dominating by the caste extremists who rule the roost in TN today. While no evidence ever being presented to justify the demonisation of the TN Brahmins, the shamelessly cowardly national media and other votaries of Hindu rights have either looked the other way or have chosen to side with the anti-social propagandists...

If we want world-class institutions, we can not have reservations for faculty:Montek Singh Ahluwalia
In India’s caste-centred politics, reservation is, to use a mild word, a sensitive issue. And Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, who has taken India through the thick and thin of economic reforms since the mid-1980s, knows it all too well. But, if the country has to have world-class institutions, Ahluwalia feels, reservation for faculty is not a defensible idea. In an exclusive interview with Priyadarshi Siddhanta and Jayant Singh, he spells out the imperatives of reforms in education that are, if not more, as difficult as, economic reforms itself...

The viciousness of the Tamil Nadu quota beneficiaries
The Commission for Economically Backward Classes (headed by Retd Major Gen S.R.Sinho) has been touring various states of India to get feedback on the measure to be taken for the socio-economic advancement of the poor Ordinary Class Hindus not belonging to the “weak, backward and marginalized" reserved classes. While most states have expressed some sort of willingness to help the excluded poor Hindus (what is preventing them so far is not known!), as was expected the quota extremists of Tamil Nadu after arrogating for over a hundred years, a near 100% of the jobs/educational/ scholarships under the state, have shown the temerity to question the very need for constituting the Commission...

Poverty 24% or 77%?
An internal assessment by the Planning Commission reveals that India’s poverty ratio has dipped by a good 3.5 percentage points to 24 per cent in 2005-06 compared with 27.5 per cent in 2004-05. The drop is phenomenal because the rate of decline trend in poverty during the previous decade has been only 0.8 per cent a year, not even a fourth of what has been achieved in 2005-06.

A Commentary on Constitutional Democratic Republic of India
A Commentary on Constitutional Democratic Republic of India authored by Dr. Jag Pal Singh is a thought-provoking book on what has gone wrong with the Indian secular, democratic republic. The book raises lot of important questions and advocates for systemic changes so that India will become in real sense a socialist, secular, and sovereign democratic republic. The author has rightly focused on the drawbacks with the present Indian polity and has in his own way advocated some solutions, which are very radical in nature and which will require overhauling of the entire political system.

More sinister than worst terrorist attack
Read these two news. The implication is more sinister than any terrorist attack or war against the nation. The first news shows that the individuals are more powerful than the the Supreme Court of India. in other words, when the Court deals with powerful regional kshtraps, it is merely a teethless paper tiger. The second news also shows that a group of politicians are above the Constitution of the Country...
